论婚姻
　　艾尔梅特拉又问道,大师,婚姻的真缔是什么?
　　先知回答：
　　你们生为大树的连理,永远是飞鸟的比翼。
　　你们的灵魂仍然相依,哪怕死亡之翼已将你们吹
　　散东西。
　　是的,你们总是在一起,即使在上帝无言的记忆
　　里。
　　然而,你们之间仍需间隙,
　　让天堂之风在其中荡漾无积。
　　
　　你们彼此相爱,但切勿让爱相互锁链：
　　让爱像一片海洋,在灵魂的彼岸之间流动。
　　彼此斟满美酒,却不要共饮同一杯。
　　相互递上面包,但不要分享同一片。
　　尽情欢歌共舞,亦可各自哑声独步,
　　犹如琵琶上的琴弦都是独立的,虽然它们为同一
　　旋律而颤动。
　　
　　献上彼此的爱心,但却勿让对方去监护。
　　因为只有生命之手才能捧住你们心的全部。
　　你们应该站在一起,但却不要相互拥挤：
　　因为殿堂里的柱子亦是分散站立，
　　犹如橡树和松柏,从不生长于彼此的荫僻。
　　
　　
　　
　　
　　On Marriage
　　Then Almitra spoke again and said, And what of
　　Marriage, master?
　　 And he answered saying:
　　 You were born together, and together you shall
　　be forevermore.
　　 You shall be together when white wings of death
　　scatter your days.
　　 Aye, you shall be together even in the silent
　　memory of God.
　　 But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
　　 And let the winds of the heavens dance between
　　you.
　　
　　 Love one another but make not a bond of love:
　　 Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores
　　of your souls.
　　 Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
　　 Give one another of your bread but eat not from
　　the same loaf.
　　 Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let
　　each one of you be alone,
　　 Even as the strings of a lute are alone though
　　they quiver with the same music.
　　
　　 Give your hearts, but not into each other's
　　keeping.
　　 For only the hand of Life can contain your
　　hearts.
　　 And stand together, yet not too near together:
　　 For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
　　 And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in
　　each other's shadow.
